Lead Estimator

Job Summary
Lead Estimator role responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial, industrial, or residential construction projects (ground-up, tenant improvements, renovations, design-build, etc.), performing quantity takeoffs and cost modeling, analyzing drawings and specs to determine scope and constructability, maintaining cost databases, and coordinating pre-bid activities. Manages subcontractor and vendor proposals, leads pricing negotiations, supports value engineering, and prepares bid summaries and final proposal packages. Will develop strategies to improve win rates, participate in client presentations, and hand off estimates to project management after award. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (preferred) and 5+ years estimating experience, with proficiency in estimating software (Bluebeam, Planswift, ProEst, Safe Estimating, OST) and strong knowledge of construction methods, codes, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in construction estimating (general contractor preferred)
- Highly proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift, ProEst, Safe Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff)
- Strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry practices
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Familiarity with local building codes, permitting, and regulatory standards
