Job Summary

Lead bid packages from start to finish by reviewing owner specifications, building breakdown work activities, and creating initial cost estimates. Manage the team by assigning work, coordinating subcontractor relationships, and mentoring young engineers while driving cost-saving initiatives and value engineering. Develop CPM scheduling, risk matrices, and productivity analyses for awarded contracts, ensuring all documentation is tracked and presented to executives before submittal. Maintain estimating software, rate updates, and codebooks while monitoring global economic trends and inflation impacts.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management degree
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Heavy Civil: field position
  • At least 5 years estimating in the USA
  • Possess high work values, integrity, and ethical standards
  • Great focus to meet and exceed company requirements and expectations
  • Great leadership skills to manage and coordinate the estimating team
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have knowledge in FDOT bridge and roadway construction
  • Savvy in foundations, concrete structures, cofferdam, retaining wall, temporary structural systems, underground and utility work, earthwork, signalization, roadway lighting and signing, intelligent transportation system, safety standards
  • 30-Hour OSHA training
  • Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Scheduling software, P6 Primavera
  • Heavy Bid from HCSS
  • Vista Accounting Software
  • Bluebeam by REVU
  • Must be a self-motivated person
  • Willing to collaborate with peers
  • Willing to teach young engineers
  • Constantly strives to identify problems and solutions
  • Knowledgeable with different type of contract such as: design-build, design-bid-build, Lump Sum
  • Familiar with clients such as: FDOT/Turnpike, Miami Dade Expressway (MDX) or similar, South Florida Water Management (SFWMD), city and county authorities
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

  • Experience with guiding, coordinating, and assigning work to every estimator within the team
  • Experience with maintenance of the Estimating software: labor, equipment, permanent material and construction material rate updates
  • Experience with crew, activity, and bid item codebooks
  • Awareness of global and local economy situation: inflation, construction index price, major commodities trending
  • Experience with building and creating relationship with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Experience with looking up for bid opportunities with current clients and new clients
  • Experience with participating in the estimating hiring process, summer internship, and mentoring young estimators
  • Experience with creating budget for the awarded contract
