Lead Estimator / Fabrication Shop Manager

Job Summary
Prepare accurate estimates from RFQs, drawings, and engineering packages, then develop project costs from initial bid through purchase order. Review specifications for completeness and constructability while coordinating with fabrication, production, and project teams. Manage work schedules, production priorities, and project workflow, monitoring work-in-progress to ensure projects remain on schedule. Oversee inventory of structural steel and fabrication materials, coordinate trucking and deliveries, and help develop shop processes to improve operational efficiency. Participate in hiring, training, and mentoring future estimating and shop personnel while promoting a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in steel fabrication, mechanical fabrication, estimating, or shop operations
- Experience estimating fabrication or mechanical construction projects
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and engineering documents
- Working knowledge of welding, fabrication, machining, and steel processing
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with CNC plasma, laser, or waterjet operations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience with estimating or CAD software
- Engineering degree
