Job Summary
Lead estimating teams in pricing, bidding, and negotiating heavy civil, transit, and transportation construction projects valued from $5 million to over $1 billion. Prepare cost estimates for hard-bid and negotiated work in HCSS Heavy Bid, develop WBS, and establish means, methods, production rates, and schedules. Assign estimating responsibilities to team members, manage the overall process, and lead bid reviews, close-outs, and submittals. Present estimates in Owner/ICE reviews and hand off to project teams. Navigate uneven terrain for pre-bid site investigations and occasionally travel. Occasional travel is required.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of construction and estimating experience or equivalent combination of technical training and construction experience
- Experience in heavy civil, structures, transit, or transportation construction
- Experience in managing estimating teams
- Ideally will have worked as a Project Manager on heavy/civil construction projects
- Mastery of reading and interpreting plans, performing quantity take-offs, construction means and methods, productions, and scheduling
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good organization and time-management skills
- Ability to multi-task daily issues with longer-term tasks
- Able to work to set deadlines and prioritize tasks
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Able to receive feedback on work product, and work with a team or autonomously
- Knowledge of MS-Excel software, MS-Word, P-6 Scheduling, MS-PowerPoint, Agtek, Bluebeam, and/or HCSS software
- Occasional travel
- Must be able to navigate uneven terrain for pre-bid site investigations
- Position requires daily in-person attendance at the workplace
Desired Qualifications
- Civil Engineering or Construction Management Degree (preferred) or alternative field exposure/experience will be considered in place of a degree
