Job Summary
Lead Estimator - Heavy Civil at EllisDon. Responsibilities include reviewing contract documents to prepare cost estimates, setting up new estimates in bidding software, leading a bid process, mentoring junior estimators, preparing reports and leading executive bid reviews, negotiating subcontractor and vendor pricing, organizing sub-contractor quotes and buy-out processes, supporting project handover to operations, maintaining cost databases, and ensuring bid quality while managing risk. Requires a degree or diploma in Engineering or Construction with 10+ years in civil construction and 5+ years in estimating; strong communication, budgeting, and documentation skills; familiarity with B2W Software is a plus; salary range $115,000-$150,000 per year; Equal Opportunity employer emphasizing inclusive diversity.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Construction
- 10+ years of civil construction experience with a focus on transportation infrastructure (roads, bridges, rail)
- 5+ years of estimating experience
- Project Management and Field Experience is an asset
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Develop and manage budgets
- Familiarity with B2W Software would be considered an asset
- Well-developed interpersonal customer service and relationship-building skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- English-language skills
