Job Summary

Manage the composting process by checking key vitals and adjusting process controls to maintain an optimal environment for aerobic microbes. Operate and perform basic preventative maintenance on composting machinery while maintaining site conditions and records in accordance with State regulatory requirements. Perform daily decontamination of food scrap feedstocks from collections routes and execute site improvement projects. Serve as a safety role model by following safety procedures and communicating site conditions and status with supervisors. This full-time role in Upper Marlboro requires hours from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, with pay starting at $20-$25/hr. Candidates must possess knowledge of composting principles, at least one year of related experience, and a U.S. driver's license. Compost Crew rescues over 30 million pounds of food scraps annually, converting them into nutrient-rich compost for over 20,000 homes and businesses across the region.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience in related field such as composting, agriculture or commercial production

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • U.S-issued driver's license in good standing
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain DOT medical card & pass drug/alcohol test
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds up to 200 times per day
  • Access to reliable transportation - public transportation and rideshare services are not viable options
  • U.S. employment authorization
