Job Summary
Lead Engineer, Hardware Test - Thermal: plans and executes thermal and mechanical tests for AI computing trays, racks, and related equipment. Develops and maintains understanding of cooling system principles, operates In-Row/In-Rack CDUs to pump cooling liquid, assembles cooling loops with chilled water, tests flow, pressure, and temperatures, and verifies operating parameters. Writes thermal test plans from customer specs, conducts hands-on testing with data collection, analyzes results, and reports thermal performance relative to product specifications. Supports other groups testing mechanical and electrical performance, learns thermal simulation tools, and uses scripts to extract test data. Travel may be required. This role emphasizes collaboration across teams to ensure cooling performance meets requirements and that test setups reliably reproduce field conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1 to 3 years of related experience
- Knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics
- Experience operating cooling equipment (CDUs) and performing thermal tests
- Ability to assemble test stands and install sensors
- Experience with data acquisition, instrumentation, and lab measurements
- Ability to interpret customer specifications and develop test plans
- Willingness to travel occasionally
