Job Summary
Lead and manage a small engineering team to deliver integration work packages for the generic design programme, ensuring safe, on-time completion to required quality standards. Plan, coordinate, and decompose requirements while applying systems engineering methods to define full power station operation and performance. Drive design decisions through structured optioneering and trade-off studies, managing key plant-level attributes such as net power output. Resolve cross-system risks and dependencies by collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to develop coherent, aligned designs. Support team development through mentoring and coaching activities. This pivotal role supports Rolls-Royce SMR's mission to deliver clean, affordable energy via Small Modular Reactors, influencing how the integrated power station is designed and delivered.
Required Qualifications
- An engineering qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience within a relevant discipline
- Strong experience in system or product-level design and integration, solving complex, cross-functional challenges
- Experience leading engineering teams and delivering technical work packages, including planning, prioritisation and management of resources
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence decisions across multiple engineering disciplines
- In-depth understanding of systems engineering tools and techniques
- Experience coaching and developing engineers, creating an environment where individuals and teams can perform at their best
- Regular attendance at Derby, Manchester or Warrington
- Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
- Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- Satisfactory completion of a basic financial probity check
Desired Qualifications
- Experience of leading integration activities, managing requirements, and delivering technical work packages through others as well as directly
- Exposure to MBSE approaches (e.g. Capella)
