Job Summary
Operate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment while performing maintenance, repairs, and replacements on building systems and furnishings. Adjust fire alarm and life safety systems, manage water treatment chemical programs, and maintain operation logs and files. Lead crews, coordinate contractors, and execute house calls to resolve work orders, tracking callbacks and reducing repeat issues. Follow emergency procedures for evacuations and bomb searches, assist authorities during incidents, and order inventory parts and supplies. Complete required training, participate in seminars, and perform on-call duties including after-hours calls from security.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
- State of Connecticut D2 or S2 license

- Proficiency in two (2) or more categories of the Hines Engineering Assessment Guidelines
- Proper use of basic hand tools (e.g., socket sets, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, saws and hammers, etc.)
- Proper use of power tools (pneumatic, electric or engine drive), drill motors, saws, grinder, and impact wrenches, etc.
- Understanding of correct usage of all personal safety equipment
- Ability to read and understand a variety of instructions, including equipment instruction manuals, furnished in written, oral, or schedule form
- Ability to perform mathematical computations related to building operations for problem solving building comfort and operation issues
- Ability to obtain city and/or government licenses or permits when applicable
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written to inform, ask questions, and solicit feedback in order to effectively carry out responsibilities
- Ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to consider how actions and behaviors will impact others in the workplace

- Complete the Hines 'Engineering Training' program within specified timeframe
