Job Summary
Lead Engineer in Mechanical Structures RCA Leader responsible for root cause analysis of rotor components (hub, pitch bearing), towers and critical bolted joints across the global wind fleet. Own assigned RCAs from technical and process perspectives, driving containment, corrective actions, and systemic improvements using Lean, 8D, Shainin, and Six Sigma. Partner with Design Engineering, Sourcing, Parts, Services, Warranty, and Fleet Performance teams to prevent recurrence and reduce cost of quality. Manage escalated PAC cases and SAFER actions; mentor junior team members; drive cross-functional initiatives and effective communication with internal/external customers. Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical engineering (or related discipline), 5+ years of relevant experience in wind, strong RCA/quality tooling expertise, travel of about 10%, and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering or relevant technical discipline from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of prior relevant work experience, preferably in the wind industry
- Root Cause Analysis Training or Certification (8-D, Apollo, Shainin or similar)
- Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time
- Ability and willingness to climb a wind turbine
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience with internal and/or external customer communications, particularly with product quality topics like RCAs
- Prior team management experience (either direct report or indirect reports) with leadership credibility
