Job Summary
Operate, maintain, and repair all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, BAS, fire alarms, and emergency power. Coordinate daily engineering operations, assign work orders, and lead by example through hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance. Provide technical guidance to staff, conduct routine inspections, and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Respond to tenant requests and building emergencies while ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining accurate documentation. Work Monday through Friday with rotating on-call responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial building engineering experience, preferably within Class A office environments
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, BAS, life safety, and commercial building systems
- Experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs
- Ability to prioritize multiple service requests while maintaining high-quality work
- Strong communication, organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Chief Engineer and engineering team
- EPA Universal Certification required or preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience serving as a senior engineer or informal team lead preferred
- Connecticut D-1 or D-2 Operating Engineer License preferred
- Experience supporting Class A commercial office properties or mission-critical environments
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
