Job Summary
Lead Engineer responsible for advancing Apex’s Transportation services in Minnesota and North Dakota, with duties spanning project management, design leadership, and business development. You will manage a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff on MnDOT-related projects from planning through construction, mentor junior staff, contribute to proposals and client interviews, and collaborate on project plans and specifications while ensuring safety and compliance. Expect travel and occasional out-of-town stays, a typical 40–50 hour work week with potential for more during peak periods, and opportunities for advancement based on successful project delivery and business development efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Professional Engineers License preferred or ability to be licensed within 6-12 months in MN required
- 5-15 Years of experience in Civil Engineering, transportation focus
- Experience with MnDOT, State-Aid or County-Aid projects in Minnesota preferred
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
- Flexible working style and willingness to modify schedules to meet deadlines
