Job Summary
Lead Engineer to manage transportation-focused civil engineering projects in Minnesota, providing planning, design, specifications, plans, and reports while overseeing construction observation and project management. Lead engineers will mentor engineers, technicians, and support staff, participate in proposals and interviews to secure work, and contribute to business development. The role requires independent initiative, effective communication with clients and project teams, and occasional travel to project sites. The position typically involves 40-50 hours per week, with potential for extended hours. Must be able to work independently and in a team, and possess strong technical and interpersonal skills. Travel and out-of-town stays may be required. Office location: Minnetonka, MN.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Professional Engineers License preferred or ability to be licensed within 6-12 months in MN required
- 5-15 Years of experience working as a Civil Engineer primarily on transportation focused projects
- Experience working as a consultant or for a state agency on MnDOT, State-Aid or County-Aid projects in Minnesota is preferred
- Knowledge and experience with MnDOT Prequalification submittals is a plus
- Strong project management skills and experience is essential for this position
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a prerequisite
- Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
- Proficient using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- A valid driver’s license is required or the ability to obtain one
