Job Summary
Lead Engineer in Apex Engineering Group's Water Group will lead a team of engineers, technicians, and staff on water and/or wastewater projects from planning through design and construction. Independently manage projects while collaborating on project plans and specifications; mentor project team members; participate in business development and proposals/interviews to secure work. Responsibilities include providing professional engineering services (studies, planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction administration, observation, and project management), coordinating with clients and internal teams, attending meetings, leading proposals, and contributing to marketing and business development. Travel and occasional overtime during construction season expected. Requirements include a BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering (MS a plus), PE license preferred or ability to become licensed within 6-12 months, 7+ years of relevant experience in water/wastewater, strong PM skills, experience with hydraulic/process modeling a plus, and proficiency with design tools (AutoCAD/Civil 3D) and Microsoft Office. Must be able to operate in an outdoor construction environment and lift up to 50 lbs. EOE/AA. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Professional Engineers License preferred or ability to be licensed within 6-12 months
- 7 or more years of experience in civil/environmental engineering in water/wastewater
- Experience in water supply, distribution and treatment; wastewater collection/conveyance and treatment
- Experience in preparing civil design drawings, specifications and cost opinions related to water/sewer utilities
- Experience with local/state agencies is a plus
- Strong project management skills and construction management experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD, Civil 3D knowledge a plus
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
- Ability to work independently and in a team; travel/outdoor work as needed
