Job Summary
Lead Engineer role based in St. Cloud, MN, focused on expanding Apex’s Transportation services in Minnesota's North and West Central region. Responsible for managing a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff on City, County, and MnDOT projects from planning through design and construction. Independently manage projects, contribute to design and development of project plans and specifications, and mentor project team members. Involves business development activities and participation in proposals and client interviews. Travel and occasional out-of-town stays required. Typical work weeks range 40-50 hours, with potential for more. Qualifications include a BS in Civil Engineering, PE license preferred or ability to obtain licensure within 6-12 months in MN, and 5-15 years of transportation-focused civil engineering experience. Strong communication, project management, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are essential. Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and willingness to adapt schedules to meet client needs. Salary range $95k-$130k with comprehensive benefits; EOE/AA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Professional Engineers License preferred or ability to be licensed within 6-12 months in MN required
- 5-15 Years of experience working as a Civil Engineer primarily on transportation focused projects
- Experience working as a consultant or for a state agency on MnDOT, State-Aid or County-Aid projects in Minnesota is preferred
- Knowledge and experience with MnDOT Prequalification submittals is a plus
- Strong project management skills and experience is essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a prerequisite
- Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
- Proficient using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- A valid driver’s license is required or the ability to obtain one
