Job Summary
Lead Engineer in Apex Engineering Group's Water Group responsible for leading a team of engineers, technicians, and staff on water and wastewater projects from planning through construction. Independently manage projects, contribute to design and development of project plans and specifications, mentor project team members, and participate in business development and client communications. Typical duties include providing professional services (studies, planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction administration, observation, and project management), preparing proposals and assisting with interviews for securing work, coordinating with engineering teams, adhering to safety policies, and traveling as needed. Requires a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering with PE license (or ability to obtain within 6-12 months), 7+ years of relevant experience, strong PM and communication skills, and proficiency with design tools (e.g., AutoCAD/Civil 3D) and MS Office; travel to multiple office locations in ND/ MN may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required
- Master’s Degree is a plus
- Professional Engineers License preferred or ability to be licensed within 6-12 months required
- 7 or more years of experience as Civil Engineer or Environmental Engineer in water and/or wastewater field
- Experience in water supply, distribution and treatment, wastewater collection, conveyance and treatment
- Experience in preparing civil design drawings, specifications and opinions of cost related to water/sewer utilities, pump stations, treatment facilities
- Experience with local and state agencies is a plus
- Strong project management skills and experience essential
- Construction management experience required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Flexible schedule to meet deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows/Office; AutoCAD, Civil 3D knowledge a plus
- Hydraulic/process modeling a plus
- Valid driver’s license required
