Job Summary
Provide on-site support to the Architect of the Capitol's Emergency Management program by serving as a "watch stander" in the interim Emergency Operations Center, delivering situational awareness briefings, and triaging open source information. Execute subject matter expertise across all five phases of the emergency preparedness cycle, including prevention, preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery. Review, update, or create emergency action plans, occupant emergency plans, job action sheets, and standard operating procedures to support program maturation. Support and observe drills and exercises, prepare exercise plans, and generate after-action reports. Validate inventory of emergency supplies as required and surge staff during National Special Security Events, concerts, severe weather, or police activity, which may occur outside regular hours including nights, weekends, and Federal Holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Associates of Science degree in Emergency Management or a related field
- 5+ years of experience
- Strong familiarity with FEMA's Incident Command System (ICS)
- Formal training in any Emergency Management discipline
- Certifications in IS-100, IS-200, and ICS-300
- Ability to attain certifications within 120 days of contract start
- Experience supporting an emergency response action led by a Federal, State or local Government organization
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and SharePoint
- Ability to interact appropriately across the AOC mission areas to collect and identify risk areas and training opportunities

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- Familiarity with WebEOC, Blackberry Adhoc or similar alert/notification systems, and other communications equipment
- Experience with the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program or equivalent exercise and training program experience
