Job Summary

Lead Electrical Power Systems Engineer responsible for conducting in-depth HV substation system studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, CSCR, Transient studies, Harmonic, Ride Through, and related analyses) and coordinating with 3rd party providers. Utilize tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, DigSilent, and PowerFactory to perform and oversee studies, develop detailed technical specifications and test criteria for major HV equipment, produce clear reports for customers and project teams, and mentor other engineers. Role includes driving process improvements, ensuring adherence to engineering discipline, supporting external events, and contributing to the technical knowledge base. Travel up to 20% (including international) and operate within North American standards (NERC/IEEE/ANSI) with preference for candidates who also hold a Master’s degree and PE license. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering including power systems and power electronics subjects with proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering (preferably in AC substations and power plant System Studies)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of network or transient studies for conventional electric-energy generation / FACTS / renewable energy / inverter-based power systems in offshore wind, industrial, utility substations and grid interconnects
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% including international and comply with GE travel guidelines
  • Professional engineering license (PE) and willingness to review and seal work under supervision
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering including power systems and power electronics subjects with proven professional experience (desirable)
  • Knowledge of RAM (Reliability-Availability-Maintainability) studies
  • Knowledge of NERC and FERC compliance requirements and ISOs' interconnection or transmission planning guidelines
  • Knowledge of IEC and CIGRE guidelines is a plus
  • Strong project management, EPC/EC or EEP experience
  • Strong communication and mentoring abilities
  • Experience with grid compliance, transmission network planning, and electromagnetic compatibility studies
  • Proficiency with computer-based design calculations for primary/secondary equipment and control systems
