Job Summary

Lead Electrical Engineering Technician role at Anduril in Costa Mesa, CA. Responsible for executing comprehensive test plans using benchtop equipment to verify PCB and integrated electronic system performance; performing precision PCB rework and assembly (SMT and through-hole) under a microscope; building, assembling, and modifying complex cable and wire harness assemblies; diagnosing and repairing electronic assemblies to the component level; accurately documenting test data, rework actions, assembly details, and failure modes to support engineering analysis and continuous improvement; and assisting in lab maintenance and calibration to maintain a safe, compliant environment. Requires 5+ years in electronics testing/assembly/rework, strong ability to read schematics and documentation, proficiency in IPC standards, experience with ECAD tools, and eligibility for a U.S. Secret clearance. Preferred qualifications include an Associate degree and IPC-610/620, J-STD-001 certifications, and experience with ECAD viewers. Salary range provided reflects hourly compensation converted to annualized USD, with benefits noted.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in electronics testing, assembly, and rework in an R&D or production environment
  • Strong technical literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and technical datasheets
  • Demonstrated proficiency in fine-pitch SMT and through-hole soldering (IPC J-STD-001 or equivalent standards)
  • Experience with PCB rework, component replacement, and modification
  • Proficiency in diagnosing electronic failures to the component level using standard test equipment and documentation
  • Understanding of product development lifecycles, reliability, and compliance testing
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-organizing: Able to prioritize simultaneous tasks in an electronics lab/test environment
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Active IPC-610, IPC-620, and J-STD-001 certifications
  • Associate degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Mechanical Technologies, or related fields
  • Experience in electronics testing, assembly, and rework in an R&D or production environment
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and technical datasheets
  • Proficiency in fine-pitch SMT and through-hole soldering (IPC J-STD-001 or equivalent standards)
  • Experience building and modifying complex cable and wire harness assemblies (crimping, soldering, routing)
  • Proven ability to diagnose electronic failures to the component level using standard test equipment
  • Understanding of product development lifecycles, reliability, and compliance testing
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-organizing with ability to prioritize multiple tasks in an electronics lab/test environment
