Job Summary

Lead complex substation design projects by preparing engineering deliverables, performing equipment selection research, and conducting independent evaluations of techniques and criteria. Manage assigned budgets, schedules, and quality requirements while reviewing lower-level work and providing direction to smaller production teams. Coordinate with internal and external members to identify client interests and drivers, then develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in project performance. Assist with performance management, mentoring, and career development for team members while ensuring compliance with departmental design guides, engineering codes, and Black and Veatch policies. Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, five years of related experience, and knowledge of substation design, protection, and controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Desired Qualifications

  • Substation Design experience Physical and/or Protection & Controls
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control of substation design projects
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License; or EIT (Engineer in Training) in pursuit of obtaining PE License
