Job Summary
Lead electrical power systems design for new construction and brownfield mining, metals, and heavy industrial projects across Canada, from conceptual studies through commissioning. Conduct power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, and arc-flash analysis using ETAP or EasyPower, and prepare specifications for switchgear, MCCs, and transformers. Oversee engineering calculations, verify design accuracy via field reviews, and coordinate cross-disciplinary activities to ensure regulatory compliance and safety. Mentor junior staff and guide clients on technical inquiries while executing design across distribution, grounding, and control systems. Based in Sudbury, Ontario, this senior role requires 18+ years of experience and a P.Eng. in Ontario.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18+ years of electrical engineering design experience supporting heavy industrial facilities, specifically in mining, metals and heavy industry
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
- Strong understanding of CSA, ANSI, IEEE, building codes, and other relevant standards
- Proficiency in power system modelling tools
- Experience leading and mentoring other electrical engineers
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to attend industrial sites in accordance with safety requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Additional jurisdictions considered an asset
- Familiarity with instrumentation, automation, and control systems
- Experience working in industrial environments such as mines, mills, refineries, ports, or material‐handling facilities
