Job Summary

Review customer requirements for large industry, marine, renewable, and naval power converters to prepare detailed electrical specifications and lead trade studies for component selection. Spearhead high-power converter design, including semiconductor technology selection, magnetics, and auxiliary circuitry, while conducting system modeling and simulation with MATLAB/Simulink or PLECS to validate topologies before prototyping. Perform hands-on lab work to develop prototypes, validate performance, and troubleshoot hardware faults, ensuring compliance with safety standards and reliability assessments. Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams, manage design reviews, and serve as the customer-facing technical lead for power conversion and energy storage system integration projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Masters degree in power electronics systems engineering or similar from an accredited university
  • MS in engineering from an accredited university with an emphasis in Power Electronics
  • 6+ Years' experience in power electronics/power conversion
  • 2+ years' experience and deep understanding of semiconductor technologies, including IGBT, SiC, GaN, thyristor, and transistor-based devices
  • strong understanding of switching waveforms, loss modeling, and PWM control
  • 3+ years experience in electrical power systems including the design and building of test bench systems for rotating machines and other power and propulsion equipment
  • The required work location is Imperial, PA
  • ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in power electronics technologies, including AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC converter design
  • control of voltage-source and current-source power converters
  • Prior experiences and knowledge of power electronics and power systems modeling and simulations using Matlab/Simulink, PLECS, and other modeling and simulation tools and software platform
  • Demonstrated expertise in circuit design for low- and medium-voltage converter applications
  • design, debugging, and testing of gate drivers, controllers, busbar designs, and current sensors
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design for manufacturability
  • Strong written skills to enable the generation of technical white papers and proposals
