Job Summary
Lead electrical engineering efforts for nuclear power plant projects, initiating scope, defining deliverables, and coordinating multi-discipline interfaces. Provide technical oversight for design changes, including AC and DC power studies, equipment procurement, and bid evaluations. Mentor group members, track project progress, and manage client relationships to validate scope and identify strategic opportunities. Develop proposals and cost estimates for complex electrical modifications while leveraging modern tools like automation and AI to improve workflows.
Required Qualifications
- A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- Ten or more years' experience in the design of electrical engineering systems for nuclear power plants
- Three or more years experience in leading an engineering design group through all phases of a project design
- Experience in the selection of equipment, materials, and the preparation and assembling of engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications
- Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role
- Experience with electrical system design including low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motor, relays, etc...)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey information to project team members and client
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Detail oriented approach to work
- Capable of being badged for unescorted access to a nuclear station
- Must be available for hybrid work arrangement (three days a week in the office, two days remotely)
Desired Qualifications
- PE Licensure is preferred
- Experience leading others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
- Leadership in directing automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guiding when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked
- Oversight of engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs
- Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows
