Job Summary

Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve electrical engineering issues across power plant retrofits, renewable energy, and oil and gas facilities. Lead design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems by preparing single-line diagrams, relay settings, and arc flash calculations while reviewing work from others. Coordinate with vendors to prepare specifications and bills of material, ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements. Mentor less experienced engineers and drive the adoption of automation and AI tools to optimize workflows and reduce rework. Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and field verification of installations. Requires a PE license, 10+ years of power systems experience, and proficiency in ETAP or SKM. Hybrid schedule with three days in Houston, TX.

Required Qualifications

  • A BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program

  • ability to earn a PE license
  • 10 or more years of experience in power plant or industrial plant design
  • focus on integrated, detailed system design for new facilities
  • modifications or replacements for existing facilities
  • Experience in the selection of equipment, materials, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications
  • Experience with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems
  • Experience with transformers, generators, motors
  • Experience with communication systems
  • Experience with equipment selection
  • Experience with analytical calculations
  • Technically knowledgeable of electrical power distribution equipment
  • Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a lead engineering role
  • Experience in reviewing other engineers' design calculations and drawings
  • experience with automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
