Job Summary
The Lead Electrical Commissioning Technician will oversee on-site commissioning activities for geothermal production and power plant systems, ensuring safe and timely energization and turnover. The role involves managing a lean internal team, contractors, and vendors to achieve integrated system readiness. Key responsibilities include leading functional testing, startup, and troubleshooting while enforcing quality and safety standards. Required qualifications include an associate degree in electrical or I&C engineering, 5+ years of commissioning experience, superior understanding of safety practices and electrical power systems, and proven leadership and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in electrical or I&C engineering or equivalent field experience
- 5+ years of commissioning experience in power plants, energy, or other complex industrial facilities
- Superior understanding and track record of industrial safety best practices
- Superior understanding of three phase electrical power, VFD’s, power distribution systems
- Proven success managing third-party commissioning scopes and vendor activities within hybrid teams that blend internal and external resources
- Deep understanding of plant systems integration and relevant standards/regulations
- Proven leadership experience
- Strong understanding of power plant electrical systems and testing methods
- Strong organizational skills and ability to execute concurrent commissioning scopes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and contractor coordination
- A cooperative and collaborative mindset with a demonstrated history of managing highly effective cross functional teams
Desired Qualifications
- Strong safety leadership mindset
- Expertise in electrical grid interconnection and testing requirements/standards
- Advanced knowledge of power plant design, experience with geothermal or utility-scale power generation facilities operations, and maintenance
- Advanced knowledge of asset condition monitoring technologies, or the willingness to acquire them, including relevant certifications
- Strong familiarity with commissioning frameworks (NETA ATS & ECS, ASHRAE) and structured document turnover systems
- Project management, commissioning or O&M certifications (e.g., PMP, CxA, CMRP or equivalent)
