Job Summary

Lead the design of 69kV to 765kV transmission lines and serve as a subject matter specialist in 500kV and 765kV systems. Mentor team members, coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specifications and client requirements, and prepare technical reports in S&L formats. Perform independent reviews of calculations, drawings, and PLS-CADD models, while leading teams in automating workflows using AI and modern tools to reduce rework. Requires a BS in engineering, 12 years of transmission design experience, and proficiency with PLS-CADD. This hybrid role involves three days in the office with a generous relocation package available.

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • 12 years of transmission design experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in 500kV and/or 765kV transmission line design
  • Familiarity with the electrical considerations for 765kV transmission lines
  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD software
  • Experience must include preparation of scopes of work, development of conceptual designs, determination of design basis, the selection of equipment and materials, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications
  • Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 765kV
  • Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI
  • Experience reviewing design drawings created by others
  • Hybrid work arrangement with expectation of spending three days a week in the office

  • Lead others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
  • Direct automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guiding when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked
  • Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs
  • Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows
