Job Summary
Lead Emergency Veterinarian responsible for owning and guiding clinical excellence, mentoring doctors, coaching to grow careers, and ensuring a customer-centered, efficient ER workflow per VEG’s standards (VEG Spikes). Key duties include direct patient care in emergencies, triage, diagnostic and therapeutic planning, communicating options to customers, maintaining medical records, leading monthly doctor meetings, developing growth plans for fellow doctors, and supporting the Medical Director with coverage and scheduling. May involve interim MD duties, training program ownership for NERD, and participating in scheduling with advanced notice. Requires DVM/VMD or equivalent, ER experience, and leadership aptitude; availability for nights, weekends, and holidays; ability to work in a fast-paced, high-noise environment. Emphasis on mentorship, coaching, and hospital-level leadership to foster career growth and clinical excellence.
Required Qualifications
- DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree
- 2+ years of ER experience and critical case management
- One year leadership experience is preferred, but not required
- Training in emergency surgery/endoscopy
