Job Summary
Lead the development of electrical distribution work packages and perform engineering design and analysis, including programmatic, capital, and reliability design for projects such as transformer upgrades, reconductor, and voltage conversion. Manage QAQC tasks and conduct quality reviews of team designs prior to client submittals while reviewing engineering packages with clients to advocate for their priorities. Coordinate conflicting utility requirements, develop work permits, and provide engineering support during construction with post-construction reviews to ensure standards are met. This hybrid role (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) requires field data collection, customer-site visits, and direct client interaction.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience working electric distribution projects in a consulting environment for electric utilities or working directly at an electric utility
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited institution
- Additional relevant experience can be considered in lieu of engineering-specific bachelor's degree
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
- Experience with engineering design quality control
- Familiarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, Pole Foreman, etc) and distribution pole analysis
- Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated
- Willingness to perform both field and office work
- Ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion
- Valid U.S. driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Previous QAQC experience
- Experience providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, calculating the CIAC
- Demonstrated history of Customer Interaction
- Proven experience and proficiency with STORMS software and GIS
- Prior Leadership experience
- Strong communication skills, written and interpersonal communications skills and supporting of customer advocacy
- Collaborative and inclusive of individuals of diverse backgrounds and geographic locations
