Job Summary

Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) oversees and coordinates daily operations of the assigned residential home, providing guidance and support to a team of DSPs while actively performing as a DSP to ensure the well-being and quality of life of participants served. Responsibilities include staffing and schedule coordination for the residence, coordinating participant appointments with DSPs, House Manager, Program Nurse, and guardians; reporting safety hazards and repair needs; ensuring medications are properly administered with MAR checks and timely communication of med errors; maintaining a neat and safe residence; training new staff; completing required documents daily and monthly summaries; conducting emergency drills in accordance with state regulations; providing equipment training (e.g., mechanical lifts); supporting other Lead DSPs and locations during emergencies; coordinating monthly staff meetings with the Residential Manager; and fostering teamwork and positive relationships. The role requires shifts across day, evening, and night; a valid driver’s license; ability to work up to eight in-office hours for administration; and proficiency with basic computer use and electronic medical records.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age

  • proof of automobile insurance
  • able to work second shift (4:00 pm – 12:00 am)
  • able to work first shift (8:00 am – 4:00 pm) and third shift (12:00 am – 8:00 am) as needed
  • high school diploma or its equivalent
  • at least one year experience with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities
  • read, understand and implement written and oral instructions
  • maintain client confidentiality
  • proficient communication and management skills
  • basic computer knowledge including software applications, internet basics, email, and electronic medical records
