Job Summary
Oversee complex vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and road tests while maintaining advanced knowledge of engines, emissions, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and HVAC systems. Supervise shop technicians through daily huddles, training, performance evaluations, and hiring assistance, while managing inventory, approving expenses, and scheduling fleet maintenance. Ensure compliance with federal and state safety standards and participate in the ASE certification program. Lead the comprehensive preventive maintenance program and provide ongoing technician development. This role supports First Student's mission to safely transport over 5 million students daily across 540 locations.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of diesel or automotive maintenance & repair experience or technical school education
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to obtain CDL while employed
- Strong computer skills
- Possess a mechanic's tool set
- Note: This position is subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee
- DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a lead technician, supervisor, or other management role
- ASE certifications
