Job Summary
Lead Developer (Frontend) to own the OnPay frontend end-to-end including architecture, code quality, performance, accessibility and frontend implementation of the merchant-facing product. Lead AI-native frontend delivery by orchestrating and reviewing AI-generated code, pairing with agents, and raising the bar on how AI tooling is used across planning, development, code review and test generation. Set and evolve frontend technical direction in collaboration with the Architect and Tech Lead, establishing standards and patterns to enable fast iteration without compromising the platform. Drive AI-assisted code review with human approval, ensuring coding standards and PCI DSS Level 1 compliance. Build and maintain deep product/domain knowledge of the OnPay payments platform to enable well-grounded technical and product trade-offs. Collaborate across UI/UX, QA, plugins/frontend and enabling functions, and act as a frontend reference point for other teams adopting the same AI-native model.
Required Qualifications
- Domain experience in payments/fintech/e-commerce or similar regulated/transactional domain
- 5-7+ years in frontend development with leadership experience
- Proficiency with modern frontend stacks (TypeScript, React/Vue or equivalent)
- Experience using AI-native development tools in production
- Strong understanding of frontend architecture, design systems, and API integration
- Ability to engage with product managers and merchants signals
- Excellent decision-making, communication, and strategic thinking
- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Valid work permit for Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, the UK, or Germany
- PCI DSS experience or other compliance/audit-heavy frontend work (advantageous)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience leading frontend teams in a product environment
- Strong frontend engineering background with modern stacks (TypeScript, React/Vue or equivalent)
- Hands-on experience with AI-native tools (Claude Code, Devin, Copilot or similar)
- Experience contributing to or shaping design systems
- PCI DSS and security/compliance awareness
- Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and strong communication skills
- English proficiency; Danish is a plus
- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
