Job Summary
Supervise booking and detention of prisoners while independently administering administrative functions and coordinating facility operations. Prepare written reports on program activities, maintain relationships with external agencies through Memorandums of Agreement, and solicit ideas from management and constituents to solve mutual problems. Assist in developing policies, allocating resources, and evaluating subordinate unit efficiency to ensure Tribal compliance and service effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Possess Federal Law Enforcement Training Center OR State of Nebraska Certification
- Possess licenses and ability to utilize various specialized weapons for police work
- Possess valid Nebraska Driver's license and be insurable by Tribal insurance
- Possess or pass test for Valid Standard First Aid Certification
- Required to attend and complete Jail Management Training within one (1) year of hire
- Must be able to pass (1) Drug and Alcohol test
- Knowledge of the standard operating procedure of the Detention Center and the laws, rules and ordinances affecting its operations
- Knowledge of the methods and procedures used for the inventory of supplies
- Knowledge of Tribal Government structure, laws, policies, procedures, processes and cultural morals
- Knowledge of BIA and other Federal Programs specifically for Indians as well as those in which the Tribe could participate
- Ability to schedule and supervise an assigned staff
- Ability to determine whether a prisoner needs medical attention
