Job Summary
Lead Designer - Transformer role requires a specialist transformer electro-mechanical engineer with hands-on experience in active part design, tank and external design, and proficiency with FEA and FMEA. Prepare transformer detailed engineering design and drawings (preferably 400kV+ and above, with HVDC/offshore experience), review specifications with action plans, select components for ordering/manufacturing, and lead cross-functional coordination with customers, suppliers, and internal departments. Proficient in 3D/2D tools (Inventor/Autocad) and document management (WindChill), with knowledge of IEC60076, IEC61378, and offshore/DNV standards; capable of independent tender and project design work within GE Vernova’s HVDC transformer initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Electrical or mechanical engineer or person with similar experience (in Power Transformers)
- Experience of working on 3D, 2D tools (Inventor / equivalent, Autocad)
- Experience of Document management system (WindChill / equivalent)
- Transformer design knowledge (especially transformer design calculations, active part design including lead exits, insulation, windings, nesting of coils and tank design)
- Knowledge of IEC60076. Knowledge of IEC61378, rail car (Schnable car) design and offshore DNV standards will be preferred
- Should have worked independently on tender and project designs
