Job Summary
The Lead Designer for BIM at AtkinsRéalis focuses on delivering advanced BIM and CAD designs for rail and bridge infrastructure projects, managing 3D models and producing detailed 2D drawings. Responsibilities include developing medium to complex 3D models for bridges and rail structures, producing General Arrangement and reinforcement detailing drawings, and collaborating with project teams to assist in BIM strategy implementation. The role requires strong modelling expertise, proficiency with BIM tools like MicroStation and OpenBuildings, and experience in Common Data Environments. Candidates should possess a Civil Engineering degree with relevant rail domain experience.
Required Qualifications
- Must have Civil Engineering background with preferable Rail domain experience
- Experience of Bridge Detailing, reinforcement detailing, structural steel detailing and schedules
- Proven experience of a range of CAD and BIM industry standards including an understanding of UK BIM Level 2 requirements
- Strong modelling expertise and understanding of BIM standards
- Experience with tools like MicroStation, OpenBuildings, ProjectWise/ACC
Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience of industry standard Rail BIM Platforms such as OpenBuildings Designer, MicroStation Connect (3D)
- Working experience in Revit Structures including 3D RC detailing
- Understanding of BIM Standards such as BS1192 and PAS1192 Part 2 is also desirable
- I-Twin or Bentley Cloud Services with capabilities to federate individual discipline BIM Models

- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
