Job Summary
Lead Designer (Design & Drafting Technician) translates engineering sketches into detailed drawings for substations and transmission lines, producing schematics, wiring, AC/DC single-line diagrams, plan and profile drawings, and as-built/construction packages. Supports engineers by completing detailed designs, ensuring drawings comply with drafting codes and standards, and assisting with Issued for Construction documentation and approvals. May attend project site visits. Requires a drafting diploma and 5–10 years of HV transmission/substation drafting experience; proficient in AutoCAD and MicroStation; knowledge of Inventor/Revit and PLS CADD is a plus. Hybrid/remote-friendly with relocation assistance supported.
Required Qualifications
- Drafting diploma or equivalent work experience
- 5-10 years drafting experience in high voltage transmission and distribution substation layout and drawings
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Proficiency with MicroStation
- Knowledge of Inventor or Revit would be an asset
- Knowledge of PLS CADD or similar design software would be an asset
