Job Summary
Lead Design Engineer (Water) to drive technical delivery of water, wastewater, and flood infrastructure projects in the UK. Lead multidisciplinary design teams from concept to handover, interface with clients and suppliers, and oversee key work packages while mentoring junior team members. Role emphasizes delivering innovative, value-added solutions across potable water networks, wastewater systems, and flood mitigation schemes, with responsibility for stakeholder buy-in and technical capability development within AECOM’s Water Solutions group. Flexible hybrid working model based in Leeds (North & Midlands offices) with opportunities to collaborate across projects and geographies. Chartered professional development and opportunities for attainment of ICE/CIWEM status are encouraged, alongside ongoing learning and development within a large, globally connected infrastructure practice.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in civil, electrical, mechanical engineering or related subject (or equivalent experience)
- Chartered or Incorporated status with ICE, CIWEM or working towards it
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams and delivering water/wastewater projects
- Experience in feasibility studies, options appraisal and concept/design development for water sector clients
- Experience with feasibility to handover design lifecycle and client engagement
