Job Summary
Lead the day-to-day operations of the department in the absence of the manager, ensuring associates are trained, the team is fully staffed, and company goals and key performance indicators are met. Order and maintain inventory while utilizing control procedures to minimize loss and ensure product freshness. Review received orders for quantity, quality, and condition; manage stocking, production, and date-sensitive rotation; and handle spoiled products per guidelines. Execute weekly Flight Plans, manage scheduling and labor control, and support the manager with performance management and career development. Maintain a clean, stocked department adhering to food safety, cleaning, and guest experience standards. Attend daily huddles and meetings as required. This role supports the department manager in developing and monitoring department goals and forecasts. Proficiency in retail management systems and strong leadership abilities are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate (Required) or Equivalent (GED)
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- Ability to work in a typical retail store environment (varied temperatures)
- Ability to be exposed to outside weather conditions
- Ability to communicate in Spanish (depending on company location)
Desired Qualifications
- 0-2 years of retail experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills
- Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills
- Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment
- Good strategic planning and business acumen skills
- Good knowledge of retail store operations; knowledge of retail management systems
- Suggestive Selling/Knowledge of Products preferred
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
