Job Summary
Lead Data Engineer at Choreograph, Australia-based, responsible for driving strategic development of cloud engineering capabilities and building data infrastructure delivering measurable client outcomes. Lead the design and delivery of advanced Google Cloud Platform solutions spanning Marketing Analytics, Data Analytics and Marketing Mix Modelling, setting technical direction and standards. Responsibilities include designing/building cloud engineering solutions across analytics, data warehousing, ML and AI use cases; collaborating with BI, Marketing Science, architecture and project management teams to translate business needs into robust specifications; championing infrastructure as code, CI/CD and cloud security; mentoring and coaching the data engineering team; evaluating emerging technologies and driving innovation. Key technical requirements include extensive GCP experience (BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer), Python (Airflow, Beam) and SQL; hands-on with GCP tools (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Composer); CI/CD and DevOps practices (Terraform, GitHub Actions); strong communication across cross-functional teams; experience with QA/UAT/data validation. Bonus points for GCP certifications and knowledge of digital marketing concepts, plus a background in CS/IT or related technical discipline.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience designing and building Google Cloud Platform solutions, specifically within Marketing Analytics, Data Analytics and Machine Learning domains
- Deep expertise in data warehousing principles and ETL development using tools including BigQuery, Dataflow and Cloud Composer
- Strong proficiency in Python, including Apache Airflow and Apache Beam, and SQL
- Hands-on experience with GCP tools including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions and Cloud Composer
- Thorough knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices, including Terraform and GitHub Actions
- Solid understanding of networking, security and performance optimisation within cloud environments
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly across cross-functional and matrixed teams
- Experience defining and delivering Quality Assurance, User Acceptance Testing and data validation processes
- Bonus Points If You Have: A Google Cloud Certification such as Professional Data Engineer, Professional ML Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect
- Knowledge of digital marketing and advertising concepts and tools
- Experience guiding teams through organisational change and technology adoption processes
- A background in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related technical discipline
