Job Summary
Conduct deep technical reviews of event schemas, Kafka topic designs, and data product architectures while coaching product teams through end-to-end data lifecycle management. Champion the Data Operating Model by tracking progress against coverage goals and guiding teams from initial event emission to discoverable catalog products. Collaborate with central platform teams and cross-functional peers to ensure uniform standards, manage versioning and deprecations, and establish quality baselines within your vertical. Balance daily technical work with human alignment to influence data maturity across Vend's Mobility, Real Estate, Jobs, and Recommerce verticals. Report to the CTO of your vertical while operating under the CPTO's overarching data mandate.
Required Qualifications
- deep expertise in event-driven architecture, including Kafka topic design, Change Data Capture (CDC), schema evolution, and both streaming and batch patterns
- practical experience navigating cloud data platforms (such as GCP/BigQuery or Snowflake) alongside data quality frameworks and observability tools
- effective communicator in English, which is our primary working language
- thrive in a federated data ownership model (like Data Mesh)
- comfortable guiding, aligning, and influencing cross-functional peers without needing direct authority
