Job Summary
Lead Data Engineer to own data architecture and solution delivery for data warehouses, data marts, and ETL/ELT pipelines; drive platform performance and reliability, lead data strategy and integration, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to the data engineering team. Role includes participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation and collaborating with business and IT stakeholders to align data architecture with organizational goals. Hybrid work arrangement (3 days onsite) in Holyoke, MA, with distance-based relocation available. Qualifications emphasize extensive experience with SQL, Python, and AWS data tools, plus familiarity with modern data stack tools (dbt, Airflow/Dagster) and DevOps practices. This position is U.S.-based with no visa sponsorship.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics roles
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL and Python, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines
- 5+ years of experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS preferred: S3, Lambda, Athena, Aurora, Glue, Redshift)
- Strong expertise in relational data modeling, database design, and performance optimization (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Experience mentoring and developing engineers, fostering best practices, code quality, and a culture of continuous improvement
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
- Ability to influence architectural decisions and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, analytics, and business teams
