Job Summary
Lead Data Engineer role within JPMorgan Chase’s Consumer & Community Bank - Branch Workplace Technology team. Responsible for delivering end-to-end data solutions on cloud infrastructure, shaping data models, building scalable architectures to support branch initiatives, ensuring security and governance, and maintaining high availability with zero-downtime releases. Requires hands-on data engineering experience, proficiency with AWS and relational databases, data transformation and orchestration tooling, and ability to guide architecture, data modelling, testing, and production support. Strong communication, collaboration in agile teams, and mentoring of peers are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on data engineering concepts
- 5+ years applied experience as a data engineer
- Hands-on professional experience as a data engineer
- Expertise with Relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres)
- Proficiency with AWS cloud technologies and distributed systems
- Proficiency with data transformation frameworks and data pipeline orchestration tools
- Experience with data governance frameworks
- Experience in managing large volumes of data and optimizing data processing
- Experience in coding with Java or Python and designing tests (unit, component, integration, end-to-end, performance)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of event-based architecture, data streaming and messaging frameworks
- Coach/mentor others on coding practices and design principles
- Stakeholder management and prioritization across multiple work streams
