Job Summary
Lead and nurture a small team of analysts and statisticians while architecting real-time health intelligence systems. Identify leading indicators of newborn and maternal risk and consolidate data from available sources to inform priorities at state and district levels. Collaborate with internal and external teams of scientists, stakeholders, and policy makers to interpret data and shape action, supporting real-time data needs for ongoing research and programs. Design and nurture a culture of truthfulness, curiosity, and learning within the unit. This role anchors CEL's Data Analytics & Decision Science Unit, converting raw field data into clarity and lifesaving action to transform maternal and newborn health outcomes in India.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Statistics, data science, statistics, economics, systems engineering, epidemiology, or Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field
- significant applied statistical / data science experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a leadership or direct people management role
- a clear track record of delivery
- Strong grounding in statistics (regression, causal inference, sample size, risk modelling)
- statistical tools such as R & Python
- Experience analysing large, messy datasets
- Experience leading teams
- Ability to build simple, actionable decision tools
- In tune with developments in AI
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- A genuine desire to work on maternal–newborn health
