Job Summary
Lead Custodian & Facilities Maintenance Specialist at Liberation Academy in College Park, GA, responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and fully operational learning environment. The role blends daily cleaning routines with proactive building maintenance, minor repairs, and event setups. Core duties include facility maintenance and minor repairs (replacing ceiling tiles, changing light bulbs/LED ballasts, changing HVAC filters, minor plumbing and carpentry tasks, reporting major needs), custodial duties (restrooms, common areas, lunch-area cleanliness, trash/recycling, use of commercial cleaning equipment), groundskeeping and security (exterior pathways, ice/snow removal, opening/closing the building), and event support (setting up furniture/AV equipment, post-event cleanup, assisting with large shipments). Requires ability to oversee inventory of tools and equipment, uphold safety standards (MSDS awareness), and perform in a school environment with occasional evening events; includes background checks and adherence to equal opportunity practices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 1–3 years of experience in commercial cleaning, custodial work, or building maintenance (experience in a school environment is a plus)
- Knowledge of standard cleaning methods
- Chemical safety (MSDS sheets)
- Safe operation of basic hand and power tools
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50–75 lbs frequently
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting (required for working around children)
