Job Summary

Conduct daily custodial and preventative maintenance across all Cherokee County Board of Education facilities, including cleaning woodwork, walls, windows, and carpeting. Operate manual and power equipment to mop, scrub, strip, wax, and vacuum floors while climbing ladders and stairwells. Manage inventory, restock supplies, and maintain equipment in order. Arrange furnishings for meetings and events, respond to immediate safety concerns, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and Board safety policies. Work in undesirable locations and conditions, lifting up to 35 pounds over long distances. Maintain security for keys and alarm codes, participate in required training, and follow work scheduling requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program
  • Basic experience, skills, and training with fundamental knowledge of cleaning, floor and restroom care, and equipment maintenance
  • Desire to learn the trade and further knowledge through off-duty study and trade school/courses
  • Able to climb and work from ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to lift and/or carry heavy objects (up to 35 pounds) long distances (more than 20 feet)
  • Must be willing to work in undesirable locations/conditions
  • Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions and carry out assignments on time
  • Able to work well with others
  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, dependable, and punctual manner
  • Participate in required training programs and on-the-job training to increase proficiency; and apply what is learned to the job
  • Maintain security and accountability for keys, alarm codes, equipment, and supplies
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and adheres to chain of command
  • Act in a professional manner and maintain a professional attitude toward students, colleagues, administration, and the public
  • Review current developments, literature, and technical source information related to the job
  • Ensure adherence to established safety procedures
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies

Desired Qualifications
