Job Summary
Senior Director and Lead business counsel for Capital One Shopping, overseeing a team of 3-4 attorneys and providing strategic legal guidance to business development, marketing, operations, product development, and tech teams. Responsibilities include translating laws and regulations into actionable advice, drafting and updating product terms and disclosures, coordinating with outside counsel and internal subject-matter experts, helping design compliance processes to support growth, and building strong cross-functional relationships to enable Capital One Shopping to scale. Strong communication, judgment, collaborative mindset, and ability to influence across diverse stakeholders are essential. The role requires JD, active state bar, extensive in-house or private practice experience, and demonstrated people leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
- At least 10 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency
- At least 5 years of people leadership experience
