Job Summary
Prepare and cook meals in line with program menus and dietary guidelines while leading and coordinating the daily work of a small kitchen team. Manage food and supply inventory, including ordering and storage, and maintain food safety, sanitation, and equipment standards to meet county, state, and federal requirements. Oversee daily meal setup, serving, breakdown, and cleanup, partnering with the Director of Community Health & Nutrition and Nutrition Services Manager on operations and catering events. Adapt to shifting priorities to keep meal production on track. This hands-on leadership role supports the Radix Recovery Program mission within Horizons, A Family Service Alliance.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in food service management or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in quantity food preparation and service
- ServSafe or equivalent certification
- Strong leadership, organization, and team-supervision skills
- Comfort with a personal computer and Microsoft Office
- Valid Iowa driver's license
- Auto insurance
- Reliable personal transportation
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods
- Successful completion of a background check
