Job Summary
Lead Cook/Baker at Franciscan Health Indianapolis prepares and cooks/bakes high-quality food for patients, staff, special events, and visitors following standard practices and procedures, in accordance with regulatory requirements. Leads cooks/bakers by providing guidance and direction. Responsibilities include coordinating team meetings, ensuring food products meet quality standards in taste and appearance, properly using kitchen equipment (combi-ovens, slicers, steamers, mixers), following production sheets, maintaining sanitation per federal/state/HFAP regulations, labeling and dating food, meeting preparation schedules, monitoring unit operations, contributing to performance evaluations and disciplinary actions, practicing safe food handling, and preparing/cooking according to standardized recipes. Requires hours 9:30 am–5:00 pm and 12:30 pm–9:00 pm with weekend/holiday rotations; travel between Illinois and Indiana indicated.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED (Preferred)
- 2 years Institutional Cooking (Required)
- 1 year Food Service and/or Cooking (Preferred)
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification (Preferred in Illinois; Indiana preferred)
- Travel required
