Job Summary
Lead Control Systems Engineer responsible for designing, configuring, and delivering SCADA/BMS solutions using Inductive Automation Ignition. Design Ignition architectures (Gateway configuration, redundancy, security/roles, store-and-forward, edge connectivity); model tag/UDT structures; build HMIs/dashboards (Ignition Perspective/Vision); integrate PLCs/OT devices (OPC UA, Modbus/TCP, BACnet/IP, vendor drivers); author control sequences and interlocks; produce I/O lists, network topologies, P&IDs, and turnover packages. Execute FAT/SFAT, perform peer reviews, and support onsite start-up/commissioning with up to 20% travel. Collaborate with PMs, vendors, and customers; apply IT/OT concepts, ensure adherence to QMS, and lead task execution and small-to-mid projects. Must have strong communication, troubleshooting across electrical/mechanical/controls boundaries, and the ability to work independently in a remote team. Travel up to 20% for site/FACT testing and commissioning; duties include design, testing, documentation, and customer support as part of Thermo Systems controls engineering team.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Controls Engineering or equivalent
- 1-4 years experience in industrial/OT controls or SCADA
- Demonstrated Ignition experience (projects, coursework, or prior roles)
- Ignition certification is a plus
- Willingness to travel up to 20%
