Job Summary

Lead Control & Protection System Engineer responsibilities include mentoring others on existing designs in MATLAB/Simulink and transferring them to the PSCAD simulation environment across the full delivery process life cycle, including plant model design, verification, and test harness creation. You will support business tendering, operations, and after-sales by preparing technical responses to client queries and solving customer issues. Daily work involves conducting Dynamic Performance Studies and other design studies using offline and online simulation tools, while leading engineering design reviews to identify risks and propose compliant solutions. You will ensure project plans contain necessary activities to meet customer requirements and propose continual improvement activities. This role supports the North Europe Grid System Integration team in delivering high voltage AC and DC transmission projects for renewable integration.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent including power systems and power electronics subjects
  • Proven equivalent knowledge and experience in HVDC business
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in creating and presenting technical reports
  • Experience responding to clients' technical questions
  • Competence on functional characteristics of power systems
  • Understanding of the interactions between AC and HVDC systems
  • Knowledge of HVDC Control, Protection and Sequencing strategy
  • Experience in PSCAD and MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation tools

Desired Qualifications

  • Process improvement or RCA experience or certification
  • Experience working in HVDC industry
