Lead Consultant - Commissioning

Job Summary

Lead commissioning work by validating construction, integrity, and operability of building systems including HVAC, steam, compressed air, chilled water, plumbing, and automation. Provide guidance on collecting and analyzing site data for energy auditing, validation, and project delivery from conception through operation. Develop testing specifications, readiness plans, and punch lists while overseeing cross-functional teams to execute mid-level and multiple concurrent projects. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and visualizations for clients and regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with codes and industry standards. Maintain quality control logs, site health and safety plans, and cost estimates, offering training to entry-level staff and interpreting data for risk mitigation strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline or equivalent years of industry experience
  • 7-10+ years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior building and systems commissioning experience
  • Familiarity with building commissioning principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues
  • Familiarity with building planning, design, and installation management; including renovation and new design
  • Familiarity with smart building design
  • Highly familiar with relevant building technology/system installation and/or construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
  • Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience
  • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools
  • Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree is preferred
  • Essential or enhancing professional licensure/certification
  • Interest in obtaining LEED certification desired
  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations
